Yup, all of us teachers are non-people. We are but minions there to do their bidding.
Glad you got at least one car started. I was just glad mine started today.
Ya I shouldn't have been out at all but if I hadn't, I couldn't have gotten to work today since I would of had to shovel it out this morning.

got them both up and running...warm one is outside now with a full battery charge and the cold one is warming up in the garage, did a quick start up tonite to make sure they both start since we are going to go below zero again this evening. Hawaii is looking pretty freakin good right now.

We are actually above 0 today! I'm in utter shock. I should probably be wearing shorts out today since it is going to be around 17 degrees! Woo!

yeah we made it to 2 yesterday yes 2 ....this weekend is supposed to get above freezing even /faint---think I will break out the suntan oil and the bikini (think I have a photo of one somewhere-----), talked to one of my local friends and his car started just fine on monday, but tuesday it wouldnt stay running (think his fuel lines were frozen), so he just worked at home both days.....weather has been hard on the cars, which is strange since I KNOW we had stuff like this when I was younger (heck I remember the winter it was -84 windchill, and I was outside in it!!! and yes, my mom grounded me for that one even though I was in hs at the time) and the cars back then didnt have this much problems!!

My brakes like to freeze, so I have to pump them before I leave my parking spot so I don't have issues later. It's pretty swell. We are supposed to get up to the low 40's on Saturday or Sunday. Just crazy! 80 degree swing in a week!
The cars might of had as many problems but since you weren't around them as much and didn't have access to the internet which tells us all of the problems it may not have seemed like you had as many.

no, I was around plenty of cars back then---remember I was one of 6 kids (and one of my brothers was a mechanic). I think its the new systems the cars have like fuel injectors and computers...only remember one of my cars having an issue like this once and that was because I had to park into the wind on a very extremely cold night (the car did start and we almost got all the way home before it overheated)....and I have owned cars since 82...these are the first ones that have had soo much troubles. (the others had different troubles).
Back then we had something called the telephone--we called and spoke to others, family, friends etc, and we ...actually MET them places we did things like talk face to face---
Some things are not better to change I think.

Fair enough. I know with older cars if you gave it a little gas that usually got it started. The new cars with fuel injectors don't work quite the same way. So that could be a big difference.
I still meet my family and call them. Others not so much.

yeah carburetors were a whole different animal than fuel injectors, they had their issues as well, but a little push or tweak was all that was needed to get them moving again, fuel injectors--a whole new animal that I no nothing about (learned a LOT about my carburetor on my crx), computers in cars are not my thing.
yeah, I still get together with my family as half of them still do not own a cell phone (one brother doesnt even have a computer!), so the only way to contact them is the old fashioned way.
Took the car out for a drive tonight--picked up the pizza instead of delivery (car appreciated it and the nice warm pizza kept my lap warm the whole way home )

We took out my wifes car tonight to get get burgers. Started right up and handled the snow fine. Which was great to see.
I don't know much about the fuel system as I don't deal with that. Just changing the oil and other basic maintenance. Anything that could screw up my car big time is left to mechanics.

thats the honda you just bought?
my crx did great in the winter, only problem it had was height---it had no clearance under it so it would play snowplow anytime there was more than 4" of snow, only had to jump it once (someone opened my door and the inner light came on and drained the battery).
(and think it was the last carbureted car I owned too /sniff)
now to get back to normalcy--going to do some grocery shopping.

Ya that is the honda. It is a pretty light car so we were expecting the worst. Definitely pleasantly surprised by it!
We did some grocery shopping today as well. We finally have food again.

nice to have some fresh foods--getting tired of frozen/boxed/dried. Fresh veggies, milk and eggs...nice change of pace!
loved my honda--they are made well.

Definitely. Eating out and eating boxed stuff gets old pretty quick...
They seem to be. I love my Toyota too though. Probably more than I love her Honda, but then again I drive the Toyota a lot more than the Honda.

I can see things on my balcony again...and I might just take down my lights if its going to be nice tomorrow (weather says--good chance of nice weather). Think I found the photo of the bikini (not mine or me in it--never owned one, never will).....but since I have no way to scan it into the computer you will just have to imagine

Most of our snow here has melted. The porch is now clear of snow and most of the ground, except where the sun hasn't been able to shine. Not too bad.

we still have some snow on the balcony (the ones below had none!) and the roof has icicles all over it---which means that the attic probably has issues (have had them for some time--means one of three things: lack of insulation, lack of air sealing--from the floor below, or/and lack of air circulation--which means the venting is probably wrong. I am thinking all of the above seeing as we have less wall cracking after we sealed the ducts this fall). But getting anyone here to admit it (they say its because of the pitch of the roof--BS! or the dryer vents--who thinks up these lame ideas?) would be like winning the lottery.
So I removed some of the snow so that the ice can melt in the 40+ temps

There is still a lot of snow in the area. Went for a walk today and a fair amount of sidewalks are still covered in snow. Still going to be a while before that melts so it kind of makes running my normal route hard. I'll just have to run the circle if I want to run.
Going to get a bit colder again this week. Which is kind of sad but oh well..
